Walnut
Street has been going to Tijuana Christian Mission for over 4 years
now. While there we have watched the orphanage develop from a small
community to a larger outreach. We have helped build a third floor
on the boy's dorm, brought running water to a friend's house, helped
with construction on another house and even cleaned and painted
a local church. But we've done so much more than work! While there,
we also put on a Vacation Bible School for the children who live
in the city dump, not to mention pour out God's love for them and
the children at the orphanage. Every year we go down there to "help",
we're the ones who are changed. It's easy to see God in action in
Tijuana. Mission trips are every summer. Come and have a change
of heart!
This
summer (June 7-21) we will be going to the same
orphanage, but in a new exciting place. Located just outside of
Tijuana, the new orphanage, Casa hogar (Loosely translated as house
home) is located within sight of the mountains and the ocean. It
has a soccer field, new dorms, and all the space the kids could
want to run around in. Our work project this summer includes building
a house for someone in the city dump. Many of the houses there are
constructed on the sides of a hill built mainly of trash, so the
houses are in danger of sliding down the hill. We need to raise
only $4700 to bring a family a safe house, and
new hope. Also, we hope to continue the tradition of doing a Vacation
Bible School for the children who live in the dump. We'll finish
up the day at the orphanage, playing with and just showing God's
love to all the children who live there.
